Moshabak: A Mesmerizing Ring Inspired by Persian Architecture

A Wearable Piece of Art that Creates a Magic Light Show

Moshabak ring was inspired by childhood memories of the mesmerizing light created by the reticular architectural element, known as Moshabak, in old Persian houses. Designer Sanaz Vazifeh Doost captures the essence of this architectural artform in a stunning ring that encourages interaction and creates a captivating light show on the hand.

The Moshabak ring, designed by Sanaz Vazifeh Doost, is a unique piece of jewelry that transports the wearer back to the enchanting atmosphere of old Persian houses. The word "Moshabak" itself means reticular, referring to the intricate lattice patterns that adorned the walls and windows of these architectural marvels. The designer's childhood memories of dancing through the magical light created by these patterns served as the inspiration for this extraordinary ring.

What sets the Moshabak ring apart is its ability to create stunning shadow and patterns on the hand. By rotating the ring against the light and sunlight, the user can unleash a mesmerizing light show that captivates both the wearer and those around them. It is not simply a piece of jewelry; it is a wearable work of art.

Comfort was a key consideration in the design process. The Moshabak ring is well balanced and not heavy, ensuring a comfortable wearing experience. Ergonomically designed arches on both sides of the ring allow it to sit perfectly on other fingers, further enhancing its comfort and wearability.

The realization of the Moshabak ring involved a combination of traditional craftsmanship and modern technology. The design was first created using 3D jewelry software, ensuring precision and attention to detail. A prototype was then printed using a 3D printer and nylon material to ensure a perfect fit. The final version of the ring was 3D printed in wax and casted with 18K yellow gold, resulting in a high mirror polished finish. The ring is also available in rose gold and silver variations.

With its unique design and captivating light show, the Moshabak ring is a true testament to the designer's creativity and craftsmanship. It is a piece of jewelry that not only adds beauty to the hand but also evokes a sense of nostalgia and wonder. By wearing the Moshabak ring, one carries a piece of Persian architectural heritage and creates a personal connection to the past.

The Moshabak ring project started in August 2020 in Toronto, Canada, and was completed by the end of the year. Throughout the design process, the designer conducted extensive research to understand the philosophy, meanings, and history behind the Moshabak architectural element. This research, combined with the designer's personal memories and experiences, allowed for the creation of a truly meaningful and unique piece of jewelry.

The Moshabak ring has received recognition for its outstanding design. It was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Jewelry, Eyewear, and Watch Design category in 2021. This prestigious award recognizes well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements. The Moshabak ring stands out for its integration of industry best practices, competent technical characteristics, and its ability to provide fulfillment and positive feelings to its wearer.
